Born in Memphis, Tennessee along the historic Mississippi River, Raymond Earl Jackson Jr. is a premier guitarist, producer, and musical torchbearer carrying the direct lineage of Stax Records royalty. The son of Eva Johnson and the revered producer, songwriter, and musician Raymond Earl Jackson Sr., Raymond Jr. was raised at the very source of the Memphis soul revolution. His father’s profound mastery as a composer and lead guitarist shaped global hit records, including the iconic guitar lines on The Staple Singers’ cultural landmarks “Respect Yourself” and “I’ll Take You There,” Carla Thomas’ “I May Not Be All You Want,” and Luther Ingram’s chart-topping masterpiece “If Loving You Is Wrong (I Don’t Want to be Right).”

Growing up, Raymond Jr. spent invaluable moments watching his father command the guitar, absorbing the raw energy of live creation at home and during historic recording sessions inside the Stax and Volt studios. While he was too young to fully realize the global significance of the melodies filling those rooms, those sessions left an indelible stamp on his DNA. His father’s continuous string of hits for music giants like The Emotions, Isaac Hayes, and Johnnie Taylor became the blueprint for Raymond Jr.’s own musical journey. Following the untimely loss of his father, Raymond Jr. transformed his grief into a lifelong artistic mission, nurturing an innate gift for production and elite lead guitar performance.
